The Story Behind the Moroccan Hand Woven Cotton Rug

The diamond trellis is the signature of the Beni Ourain, Berber tribes of Morocco's Middle Atlas, whose rugs set dark lines on undyed ivory wool. This one keeps the same drawing in cotton, a lighter fibre, with an even black trellis running edge to edge across the ivory. It suits a bedroom or a child's room, where a rug is walked on barefoot.
