Review

It’s my first purchase from Imam Carpets and I’m happy that I found a very reputable and genuine place to shop online without a fear of being cheated in terms of quality.

The Story Behind the Afghan Chobi Hand Knotted Rug

The large round rosettes of Suzani embroidery, often read as suns and moons, are its best-known shape, stitched by the women of Uzbekistan and Central Asia for their dowries. This Chobi rug sets them in its border, on a black ground, and fills the field inside with flowering vines in salmon, teal and ivory, framed by a narrow coral band.

How it was made

Construction: Hand Knotted
Every knot tied by hand on a loom, then cut to make the pile.
Knot: Senneh knot
The asymmetrical knot, also called the Persian knot. The yarn wraps one warp thread, which allows finer detail.
Density: 101–140 knots per square inch
Knots in every square inch. The higher the count, the finer the detail and the longer the rug takes to knot.
Pile: Low pile
Material: Wool
