The Story Behind the Afghan Chobi Hand Woven Kilim Rug

Maimana kilims take their name from the market town of Faryab province in northern Afghanistan, where Uzbek and Turkmen weavers have sold their flatweaves for generations, and Afghan weavers keep the tradition going on both sides of the border. This long runner links stepped diamonds in salmon, teal and olive down a blue field, woven flat in wool coloured with natural dyes, so either side can face up.
