Review

It’s my first purchase from Imam Carpets and I’m happy that I found a very reputable and genuine place to shop online without a fear of being cheated in terms of quality.

The Story Behind Stormy

Stormy is ruled like a ledger page, with fine caramel stripes running the length of the rug and fainter lines crossing them, dividing the ivory into long panes. The ivory is undyed wool, kept in the sheep's own colour, knotted by hand and cut to two heights, so the grid sits in light relief and changes with the direction you walk.

How it was made

Construction: Hand Knotted
Every knot tied by hand on a loom, then cut to make the pile.
Knot: Ghiordes knot
The symmetrical knot, also called the Turkish knot. The yarn wraps two warp threads, which gives a firm pile.
Density: 50–80 knots per square inch
Knots in every square inch. The higher the count, the finer the detail and the longer the rug takes to knot.
Pile: High-low pile, Plush
Material: Wool

Where it comes from

Made in: Pakistan
Made by: Imam Carpet Co., our own design
Designer: Ahsan Imam
Second-generation head of Imam Carpet Co.
Style: Modern, Moroccan

What to look for

Undyed wool
Natural wool colours, with no dye.
Textured pile
Parts of the pile are carved by hand to different heights.
Light one way, dark the other
