The Story Behind Velour

Velour borrows from ticking, the striped cloth used for mattresses and pillows. Blue-grey lines and bands of different widths run the full length of an ivory field, spaced unevenly so the eye keeps moving. Woven flat by hand with clean, unfringed sides, it lies thin and works from either side.
