The Story Behind Jynx

Jynx looks as if ink has been poured along the top edge and left to run. Black and sand strokes fall at different lengths, some thick, some thin, a few stopping halfway, and most of the rug is left open, like a blank page. The ivory is undyed wool, knotted by hand, and the pile leans one way, so the rug brightens or deepens with the direction you see it from.

How it was made

Construction: Hand Knotted
Every knot tied by hand on a loom, then cut to make the pile.
Knot: Ghiordes knot
The symmetrical knot, also called the Turkish knot. The yarn wraps two warp threads, which gives a firm pile.
Density: 81–100 knots per square inch
Knots in every square inch. The higher the count, the finer the detail and the longer the rug takes to knot.
Pile: Plush
