The Story Behind Vanguard

Vanguard is jute and nothing else, so its pattern comes from the weave. Rows woven tight and flat alternate with raised, ribbed bands, and the light picks out stripes in a rug of a single colour. Jute is a plant fibre with a dry, firm hand and a natural sheen, and woven by hand, the rug lies flat and works from either side.
