These rugs are mostly made of top quality- 100% New Zealand worsted wool and sometime silk for the pile, and many have silk fields or highlights of silk. In addition, Persian rugs are asymmetrical knotted (double knot) with very high knot counts, which enable the high elaboration and contingent found in the patterns.
